Description
Catalan ceramic dish in green and purple. A characteristic production made with coarse clay, heavy and thick walls and decorated in green and purple on a thin layer of white glaze, which is sometimes yellowish and rough to touch on its inner face, not very impermeable. This production began in the mid-thirteenth century, influenced by Andalusian ceramics and its main expansion was in the fourteenth century, while its decline occurred at the end of the fourteenth century and throughout the fifteenth century. The function of these pieces was to present the food to the diners. The decorative motif of the border is recurrent, with two bands in purple and a green one in between. The central decoration consists of plant motifs with a cross as a central figure with curved leaves sprouting like flowers in a geometric form.
