Description
Emporitan biconical ceramic jug with side handle fired in an oxidizing atmosphere. The outside of the jug has a smooth, uniform finish, and is completed with two simple decorative ribs parallel to the top of the body. It was found in the Cave of Encantades de Martís and was probably part of the grave goods of an Iberian burial, along with a bowl, a spearhead and a handmade urn, which probably contained the ashes and small bones of the deceased. In Iberian times, these types of burials were reserved for high social classes.
