Description
Dolium cover with handle in the centre of the piece, but slightly offset, and a small circular hole. Orange clay with few inclusions; little refined. The piece presents a small animal footprint on the upper side. It was located during the 1986 excavation in Sector 01, inside the Iberian house No. 8. This cover would be associated with a dolia, a large container used for storing wine, cereal or oil. Most dolia were buried with only the mouth protruding. The dolia of the Republican era were smaller than those of the Imperial era. The lids used to be of wood, so they are rare in archaeological ensembles.
