Description
Blown glass bowl, with a flat base and decoration engraved on the bottom of the body, consisting of two thin parallel incisions. Found in Empúries and dated in the 1st century AD, it is originally from the Eastern Mediterranean or Italy. The blowing technique appears in the area of Syria and Palestine in the 1st century BC and in a short time spread through the Roman world. By the end of that century, Roman craftsmen had already developed their technical capability and produced beautiful pieces of very varied size and shape and of high quality.
