Description
Fragment of a small plaque of lead with an inscription in trapezoidal Iberian characters recovered during the excavation campaign in 1980 in the D-alt sector of the town. It contains 34 signs in three lines, two on one side (A) and one on the other (B). The first line contains 9 signs and the second 13, separated by a horizontal line, bounded on the left by a vertical line. On Side B, the line contains 12 signs. The height of the signs varies between 4 and 11 mm, with a firm calligraphy made with a very fine burin. Reading of face A: [...] tinbasteeroke / bartstoloriltursu Reading face B: tortonbalar-biteroka [...] A unique feature of the text on Side A is that it is boustrophedon: the first line is written from left to right and second from right to left. This is unique among Iberian texts, according to Untermann (1990). This object was imported to the site, where it was cut, probably to reuse the lead.
