Description
Necklace made with the shells of Homalopoma sanguineum, a small Mediterranean gastropod. This species was used as an ornament throughout the Upper Paleolithic in Europe. At Reclau Vivar it was often used during the glacial maximum (Solutrean). Objects of ornament, as symbolic elements, must have expressed messages understood by other members of the group and could possibly indicate social status, prestige, age, belonging to a group...
